~ WELCOME ~ CITY OF HORNELL The City of Hornell Industrial Development Agency, (CHIDA), is the premier organization for industrial retention and expansion in our area. The City of Hornell Industrial Development Agency has assembled in excess of $160 million dollars in various projects resulting in over 2400 new jobs. The City of Hornell Industrial Development Agency is a one-stop agency to access state, local and federal programs, whether it be capital, training, or consultant needs. They can provide easy access to sites, building, planning, zoning and a wide range of information to assist in economic development decision making. CITY OF HORNELL In the last several years, Hornell has experienced tremendous economic growth. This growth has been unparalleled and can only compare to Hornell's growth over 100 years ago when the Erie Railroad established Hornell as a major terminal. Of course, we all know the history of our railroads and the rise and fall of the railroad counties. Hornell has weathered the storms of economic hard times and now shines as one of the brightest stars in the Southern Tier. In a period when many communities are experiencing the disappearance of commercial activity, Hornell, again, has emerged as a shopping hub for a wide area. Our educational systems and our recreational facilities are second to none. Our neighborhoods and City streets are being rehabilitated.
